Entering the Digital Market

In 2010, there was an uprise in the number of internet users in the Philippines. Majority of Filipinos don’t have a good internet connection yet but there was already a market online. Many businesses are creating their own website to promote their business. The cost and risk of building a website were low and so the team of Meiji Electric decided to create the official website of Meiji Electric Philippines.

The project was given to a startup company, SEO-Hacker who is now one of the best SEO agencies in the country. Before, the team of SEO-Hacker consisted only of one man, Sean Si who is now a Filipino motivational and leadership speaker. Since then, the SEO-Hacker team continued to grow and along with them is the growth of the Meiji Electric website.

The project was to create an SEO optimized website for Meiji Electric to increase the company’s visibility in the online market. When the website was launched in December of 2010, the website was practically nothing. Only the logo of Meiji was found and links to the About page and the Contact page.

Improvements were continuous and after a year, the Meiji Electric website was fully designed and content was regularly published. Landing pages were also published for their products.

Ever since that period, SEO-Hacker was Meiji Electric’s supplier. Meiji Electic continuously moved up the search rankings. Went through multiple website redesigns, hundreds of blog posts, and thousands of links. The Meiji Electric website also went through major Google Algorithm updates like the Panda and Penguin update.

There were lots of ups and downs. Until 2016, rankings were improving slowly and in 2017, Meiji Electric was receiving its highest number of users ever since the website was launched. The website was getting 1,500 to 2,000 users.

At that time, Meiji also launched its eCommerce shop that allows users to buy electrical supplies right from the website. It was well-received by users. Not only did users buy products from the store every day but inquiries from businesses who are looking to buy electrical supplies for a variety of reasons came in fast as well.

Currently, if you check the search engine results when searching for ‘electrical supplies philippines’ or just ‘electrical supplier’, you can see Meiji Electric at the top. The SEO team is currently targeting and tracking more than 20 keywords but because of the high-quality content that is published on the website’s blog, Meiji is ranking for more than 200 keywords. Authority is well established and you could say that Meiji is dominating in the electrical digital market.
