meiji electricianChristmas is a time for celebrations. You’ll probably find yourself invited to different parties during this season. In fact, one of those holiday get-togethers might even be held at your own home! In this case, it’s best to be prepared. Don’t just clean your house, make sure that it’s not susceptible to electrical mishaps as well.

Visit your favorite electrical supplier in the Philippines and replace your old wiring devices. But if you are not knowledgeable about these things, it would be best to consult a professional. If you don’t have an electrician, it’s better to hire one now. Here are a few things you should ask your new electrician before hiring him or her:

1. Do you have a license?

Electricians take the board exam to become a registered master electrician. Like any professional, if he or she does something unethical or irresponsible, his or her license might be revoked. Ensure that your electrical wiring and your home is in good hands by hiring only licensed electricians.

2. Do you have experience?

Experience is also a large factor in choosing your electrician, as you’d want them to have already solved various real-life electrical problems for other clients before. When screening candidates, explain to them the problem with your wiring and ask them if they have ever dealt with a similar situation before, and how.

3. What is your specialty?

When hiring electricians, you should consider their specialties. You might have found a lot of candidates, but are they suitable for the job? Different electricians have different specialties. Hire someone who specializes on the job that you wanted to be done. Otherwise, you’ll just be worried that your new electrician will be doing a trial and error on your house’s electrical wiring.

4. What is your work plan?

Ask how he or she is going to tackle the job. You might not be as knowledgeable about electrical wirings and devices but that doesn’t mean that he or she has to leave you in the dark.

Discuss how long the process is bound to take. They should be able to warn you in advance if there is a likelihood of interruptions in your daily routine. Ask your electrician if there are additional parts or devices that need to be bought so you can prepare your budget. It would be good to ask your electrician for a cost estimate as well.

5. Who is going to do the work?

In some cases, electrical contractors hire other electricians to work under their license. It’s important to ask who would be working on your house so that you won’t be surprised when a different person shows up on the first day of work. Also, don’t let an apprentice to work on the wiring alone. A supervisor should always be monitoring an apprentice in training.

Keep yourself safe this Christmas from electrical mishaps. If work needs to be done on your house’s electrical wiring, make sure to ask the questions above to before hiring a new electrician.
