Holiday Inn Express Newport City is a part of Resorts World Manila, the Philippines’ first integrated resort, with world-class thrills ranging from dining, shopping, gaming, cinemas, and live entertainment. Resorts World is well-known when it comes to their high-class hotels, entertainment and gaming. They have four lodging brands in the country- the luxury all-suite Maxims Hotel, five-star Marriott Hotel Manila, Holiday Inn Express and Belmont Hotel Manila. Resorts World is a joint venture with Megaworld; the largest residential developer in the country.

Holiday Inn Express recently purchased MGF-250 for all their rooms from Meiji Electric; the leading supplier of the best Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter in the Philippines. Their luxury all-suite Maxims Hotel and five-star Marriott Hotel Manila have also purchased GFCI: MGF-250. Resorts World Manila trusts only Meiji Electric in protecting their clients, guests and employees in line with electrical safety.

The best-selling GFCI MGF-250 comes with a New SELF-TEST Feature.

So, what is a Self-Test GFCI Receptacle?

It is a receptacle that regularly tests the ground fault circuit interrupter function by itself, and then cuts off the power to that receptacle when the ground fault circuit interrupter function fails. The UL (Underwriters Laboratories) made it a requirement that all suppliers of GFCI should make them self-testing, effective  June 2015 in order for them to be UL listed, the revision requires periodic automatic monitoring/self-testing of the GFCI’s ability to respond to a ground fault.  According to the Standard, if the device detects a problem during auto-testing, the GFCI must either deny power to the outlet or provide a visual and/or audible indication. This is a pretty cool idea because most people don’t test their regular GFCIs often, or not at all. When a regular GFCI receptacle isn’t tested by the consumer for the ground fault circuit interrupter function, it may not be doing its job correctly, and could cause electrical shock. In short, with this Self-Test feature you don’t need to test your GFCI every month.

A combination of an International and a Universal Outlet

The MGF250 has a combination of an International and a Universal Outlet unlike other traditional GFCI’s, which are usually  Duplex Parallel Flat Pin convenience outlets ( C.O.’s) with Ground. The MGF250 works on any plug without any need for bulky adaptors. The MGF250 is considered one of the best in the market since it is classified as Class A in accordance with UL943. This is because all four types of Meiji Electric’s GFCI’s have a maximum 6mA sensitivity rating, unlike other GFCIs being sold in the markets which only have 15mA rating or even higher, making those other brands very dangerous for human lives  when used inappropriately.

Important in both homes and business establishments

GFCI’s are very important in both homes and business establishments, as it monitors an electrical circuit and detects even the slightest flow of electricity to a grounded item. A GFCI immediately shuts off the flow of electricity, thus protecting people from electrocution. It is particularly essential to install in areas where people could come in contact with exposed or faulty grounded items inside bathrooms and kitchens.

Do you know that unlike other GFCI’s, the whole family of Meiji Electric’s GFCI’s MGU252, MGF250, GF250 and LG20 are classified as Class A in accordance with UL943 as they are rated at 6mA. sensitivity rating? In other words, Meiji GFCI’s can detect as little as .006 Ampere of ground fault.  UL Standard indicates the `let go factor’ of women and children should not be more than 6mA sensitivity rating because anything above this range is where `freezing currents’ start and it may not be possible to `let go.’ Prevent these accidents and install the Meiji GFCI’s in your bathroom, garage, and other wet prone areas now.

Our newest addition is the MGU252, the only square GFCI with a combination of 1 international outlet and 2 USB outlets. It is designed for convenience of use with all USB-dependent gadgets and devices while protecting you in wet prone areas.

MGU-252 with UB-252

Here are some advantages of installing a Meiji MGU-252 GFCI:

  • It works on any type of plugs, no need for bulky adaptors.
  • It has 2 USB ports, 5V 2A for charging smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.
  • It has a safety Test button, so you can check if the Ground Fault Detection feature is functioning properly.
  • It will work even without a grounding system.
  • It is accurate, reliable and user-friendly with an innovative and modern design.
  • It comes with a free Utility Box UB252 which is specially designed for the MGU252.

Electrical Code

The Electrical Code requires installing a GFCI  for all wet areas, this is necessary to avoid ground fault which happens when electricity passes through our wet body before it reaches the ground.  The GFCI is different from conventional receptacles, because in the event of a ground fault, it automatically trips, and stops the flow of electricity to your body, thus preventing serious injury.

Choose from our various types of GFCI’s to have that maximum electrical safety in your home and establishments! Aside from the MGU252, we also offer 3 other GFCI’s namely:

MGF250The MGF250– The only GFCI with a combination of 1 international outlet and 1 universal outlet. It is also classified as Class A GFCI rated at 16A, 250V with the same basic features as MGU252.

The other Class A GFCI’s are GF250 (220V) and LG20 (110V) – These have duplex parallel convenience outlets with ground both of which are also UL and CSA certified. Their load capacities are 20A which can plug in 2 devices at the same time.

We all know what electrical outlets and switches are, and that it is a standard for every home to have. Wiring devices power our home appliances as well as to lighten the whole house. Receptacles provide a safer port where appliances can connect and power up. Switches on the other hand, are used to turn-on and turn-off the lights without a direct contact to its wires. But isn’t that what all brands of wiring devices do? The question is, how long will they last? Do they look nice for your interior design and for your visitors? Are they worth the price you paid for?

Unlike ordinary wiring devices that are made from very brittle plastic material, Meiji Classic Series wiring devices are made from flexible and non-fading polycarbonate glossy-white finish that protects you from direct contact to electricity. Meiji switches can take pressure during turn-on and turn-off process without easily breaking. Due to its wider contact point, you will receive a sturdier conductivity for a safer consumption of electricity. Meiji outlets has an accommodating screw-type terminals made perfectly for the standard solid and stranded wires. A screw-type terminal has many advantages over the Snap-On type. For one, with the Snap-On type you cannot retighten the terminals, you must buy a new one. The Meiji screw-type terminal can be easily retightened with a twist of a screw. Another great feature is that, Meiji wiring devices has interchangeable parts and can be mixed and matched with one another. Just remember not to combine low voltage (telephone) and high voltage (outlet) physically in the same set to avoid any damage to your appliances during a short.

I want to set a scenario inside for you. I’m sure that there’s also a chance that this has happened to you a few times. So you’ve bought a new electronic device or appliance that’s imported. Perhaps you had it ordered online, or you bought it in a store where imported products can be bought, or you asked someone coming home from a foreign country to buy it for you. But as you un-box it, try to make it work, you find out that the electrical socket outlet it needs to be plugged into is not available in this country! That’s an immediate bummer. Although not all is lost since there are a lot of adaptors that can be purchased for that very purpose. But wouldn’t it be a little more convenient if there’s no need for such in the first place? I mean, it gives room for having it misplaced, and if it gets broken, you know that it’s pretty much useless. So knowing this, what should you do to avoid being disappointed? The quick and easy solution is to KNOW your electrical socket outlets.

Commonly used socket outlets vary from country to country. There are almost 20 different socket outlets being used throughout the whole world today. This will explain why an imported electric product from a country that has a different standard socket outlet will not match your country’s standard socket outlet. In this country, there is a basic of 5 different types. By the end of this article you will be acquainted with them so that next time, when you’re buying an imported electric appliance, you can discern whether or not the sockets in your house can welcome them without the need for adaptors.

Meiji Universal Socket Outlet

This type of socket outlet will accept most kinds of plugs. It can accept Type A, or the most common one with two parallel blades, Type B, or the plug with two parallel blades with a circular ground a little above the middle of the two blades, and Type C, with two roundish, circular pins. Most adaptors have their receiving end with this type of socket because it accepts plenty of kinds of plugs. Having most of your electrical socket outlets as this is very convenient.

Parallel Outlets

Parallel with ground.

Also called the Type B electrical outlet, this type of socket outlet includes two blades with a ground in the middle. This is especially useful if you use a laptop charger. Although more common, this socket outlet is not as universal. You can only fit a Type B or a Type A plug.

Meiji outlets

Parallel flat blades.

It’s also called Type A. This is the single most common socket outlet in this country, but unfortunately, it’s also the most exclusive. It’s for this reason that you buy adaptors – since Type A sockets can only accept one kind of plug.

Round to Flat Universal Outlets

Round to flat outlet.

This outlet is more common than the parallel with ground, but it’s less common than the parallel flat one. This outlet will accept Type A as well as Type C – two round pins. This also offers quite a convenience since it accepts two types of plugs. That means that you won’t need an adaptor.

Aircon Outlet Philippines

Three-pin rectangular.

Officially labeled as Type G, this is the kind of outlet that is usually needed by air conditioning units. This is very exclusive and is of British origin. However, most households or buildings that use air conditioning units in this country have that one outlet just for the air conditioner. Sometimes, not even adaptors can accept a Type G plug, that’s why a special socket is needed.

There you go! It’s a quick list that should guide you through – not only in buying electrical appliances, but in deciding what’s the most convenient socket to have in your house.

Have you ever experienced pulling out the adapter charger of your mobile phone and had the shoLight Switchesck of your life because the whole outlet got plugged out as well? Or have you heard of an incident wherein someone was turning on or off a switch and by doing so, his or her finger pressed all the way to the utility box inside it? If you or someone you know has had this type of EMBARRASSING EXPERIENCE, let us help you overcome it. But for those who have not, by reading this article, we can assure you that it won’t happen to you.

You need 3 things

When a switch or an outlet is being installed, as you already know, you need 3 things: a utility box, wire (AWG #12) and the switch with plate or outlet with plate. You first remove the plate; Outlet Platesand then screw together the body of the switch or outlet then put back its plate. The problem however is that the plates of the switches and outlets sold in the market are mostly of plastic strap in nature. This strap is found at the back sides of the switch and outlet nearest to the plate. And usually, HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM BEGINS.

Plastic strap is not strong enough

Due to excess pressure, wear and tear and overuse, the switch or the outlet moves deeper into plate, thus the mishaps mentioned earlier happens. The plastic strap is not strong enough to take on the pressure, the repeated turn on/s and off/s to your switch and the plug-in and out/s to your outlets.

Be sure to spend wisely

But the inevitable and necessary gesture of turning on and off your switch lights helps you to save energy. The same thing goes for plugging-in and out your flattening iron and other appliances after use, correct? Yes! This act also avoids unwanted damages and expenses to your house. But what do you do about your wiring devices? Should you really just keep buying them every so often? Take note commodities keep increasing, be sure to spend wisely.

Make use of full metal straps

We propose that you use Meiji switches and outlets. This eliminates the problems of the previously mentioned issues because only Meiji’s switches and outlets make use of full metal straps to the plate so that your switches and outlets are protected. As the company has been in the electrical business for more than 20 years now, it has developed Meiji wiring devices to the markets’ ultimate need.

Non-fading polycarbonate

Meiji switches and outlets have a non-fading polycarbonate glossy-white finish. Using it for long periods of time would not be a problem both physically and aesthetically but is in fact expected. It could easily match and blend in with the interior of your home.

Practicality, mix-and-match, and cost efficient

The Meiji Classic Series has a complete line of wiring devices including telephone modular outlets, door bell push buttons, computer outlets, surface type switches and outlets and many others. Aside from its aesthetics and durability, it also promotes practicality with its mix-and-match feature. In case you would want to combine a switch together with your outlet so that you no longer need to plug-in and out your appliance, but just turn on the switch; you may do so with Meiji wiring devices. Being so. it is very cost efficient because not only does it save you the time and effort to plug-in and out an item, but also saves you the money to buy another set of outlet, switch and wires because it got worn-out.

Parallel screw type terminals

Meiji outlets also have parallel screw type terminals as its unique feature. This is because in the Philippines, the wire size commonly used is 3.5mm2 (AWG #12 Stranded) thus the conventional snap type connection cannot accommodate the thickness of the said wires. Given Meiji’s parallel screw type outlet feature, you can easily connect the 3.5mm2 wires into the pair of spacious screw type slot and interconnect several outlets in one circuit, making it a better and more convenient choice.

Safety and reliability

Aside from its features, you can also be assured of the safety and reliability of Meiji’s wiring devices as it has ICC Certificates and passed international tests.

Don’t underestimate your home for a lesser cost of wiring devices. Choose Meiji wiring devices-less hassle, better living.
