Christmas is just around the corner and I’m sure that by now, you have already adorned your houses with Christmas trees, garlands and colourful parols. It is the most festive time of year and having a safe and secure home will keep the holidays brighter for you and your family. Before you get busy in buying your Christmas gifts and other preparations, please take a while to review our holiday electrical safety reminders to avoid any potential danger.
#1: Determine the number of available outlets
When decorating, determine first the number of available outlets and its location. Be sure that your installed electrical outlet can accommodate the total load of your Christmas decors. The most common problem when hanging Christmas lights is the unavailability of an electric outlet. If your outlet is far from your Christmas lights/ decors, use the Meiji 20 Series Extension sets (WRP 2104/2027) that are made up of polycarbonate ABS plastic material and ranges from 3-5 Metered wires. It also has 3 outlets rated from 1200 to 2500 Watts and your choice of white, black and even green colours.
You can also try our Meiji 13 Series Extension Sets (MES-1303 to 1306). This series consists of 3 to 6 international outlets with individual switches, shutters for child protection and fuses for each outlet. It also contains a circuit breaker to better protect your higher rated appliances. It is made up of fire-retardant plastic in grey colour, rated at a total of 2,500 Watts.
# 2: Turn off all indoor and outdoor electrical decorations before going to sleep or leaving the house.
# 3: Do not use electrical ornaments or light strings on artificial trees with metallic leaves or branches.
Or better yet, update your tree to the Meiji Fiber Optic Tree with programmable energy saving LEDs. This year, we have four new designs to choose from. The MFL-DL with LED dancing lights, MFL-RM with LED blinking colourful balls, The MFL-G that has steady gold fiber optic with colourful LEDs, and the MFL-SS which has LED stars with 8 different motions. With this type of Christmas tree, you don’t need to put on any Christmas lights and unlike the conventional tress, it does not heat up. Energy efficiency is another benefit of using this tree since LEDs only consumes 1/3 energy. This will add up to big savings on your electricity bill by the time the holiday season is over.
# 4: Do not overload electrical outlets.
Overloaded electrical outlets and faulty wires are a common cause of holiday fires. Avoid overloading outlets and only plug one high-wattage appliance into each outlet. Read the power consumption of your appliance and make sure it is within the capacity of your outlet.
# 5: Outdoor Christmas lights and decorations should be plugged into circuits protected by Meiji Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GF-250/ MGF 250).
These are protective outlets designed to shut off an electric circuit when it detects current imbalance due to ground faults or grounded wires. Pair it up with the Meiji Weather Proof Cover (MCS-2204) for added protection!
# 6: Always unplug electrical decorations before replacing bulbs or fuses of your Christmas lights to avoid electric shock.
# 7: Make sure that you have a stand-alone Meiji Smoke Detector with Alarm (MSD-01/ MSD-02)
With all the family reunions this Christmas season, your kitchen will surely be busy. Make sure that you have a stand-alone Meiji Smoke Detector with Alarm (MSD-01/ MSD-02) to warn you when it detects smoke; that is typically an indicator of fire.
Caring and providing excellent electrical products for our customers is something we strive to do all year round. On behalf of Meiji Electric, I would like to extend our sincerest thanks for your continued patronage, and wishing you a Joyful plus safe Christmas and a Prosperous as well as electrically secured New Year!
I can vividly recall one of my family’s pre-Christmas bonding: decorating our Christmas tree. The lights and different ornaments simply enchant you and get your creative juices flowing while you put them on the tree. I remember spending the whole day in front of it, checking if the decorations are in symmetry. Sometimes, we need more than 3 pairs of hands to finish the Christmas tree.
Now, times have changed. As we all grow up, we have different priorities. Taking out one day from the busy week is too much to ask just to decorate a tree. It may come as very tedious job to pull out a big box full of lights and ornaments. You have to dig your way into the attic to get your Christmas stuff. As I look back, it was hard work.
I am aware that a lot of families are probably experiencing the same things now, what with the fast-paced environment we have now.
Some of you might have even forgot that they should be putting up a Christmas tree by now, and thinking “Great. Do I even have the time to pull out those boxes?”
Here is a good news!
Meiji Philippines is offering a fuss-free way to put up your holiday tree with the Pull-up Tree! In less than 5 minutes, you can already display a decorated tree in your living room, without the mess and hassle and hours to waste. Assembling the Pull up Tree is as easy as 1, 2, 3, literally…
Just follow these 3 simple instructions:
- Assemble the posts for a stand
- Pull up the Chrsitmas tree
- Place on the first-assembled stands and plug in an outlet
It is very evident that you get to save on a lot here.
First, you conserve the energy to get you moving and set up your heavy tree; cleaning the dusty decorations and Christmas light you stored in the far corner of your storage room.
Second, you do not need to spend more money on new decors or lights if you found some of them already broken (By now your money should already be going straight to Christmas shopping).
Third, you can set up your tree even before you go to work, or before you go to bed. You can do it alone, too!
Finally, after the festivities are over and it is time to pack up again, less than 5 minutes is only needed to clean up and put the tree back to its box. It can also save space, as you only need to store it in one area with no other boxes labeled as Christmas Decorations, Christmas Light and Christmas Tree. One container is all it takes!
I think we all agree that as joyful as the holidays are, it is also tiring and stressful. So cross out one of those chores by getting yourself your own Meiji Pull-up Tree now!
The Christmas bells are ringing, the Church choirs are singing, and the Christmas lights are blinking. It’s the season again, and you feel it come in all senses. You see all the decorations, you hear all the Christmas music, you smell the Christmas food which you also can taste, and you feel the coolness of the wind as the frigid breeze touches your skin. So along with the coming of this time of year, you join with the rest of the world. Maybe you’re planning on setting up a Christmas tree, extremely decorated, and spun around with flashing Christmas lights. Perhaps you’ve already even set it up. Well that’s a good thing, but have you ever considered the pros and cons of the traditional Christmas lights in light of fiber optics?
Traditional incandescent Christmas lights are very easily obtained. In any store, mall, or bazaar, you’ll be sure to find them there with a great variety to choose from. It ranges from the color, bulb size, wattage, and of course, price and quality. Versus fiber optics, the traditional Christmas lights are way easier to find in order to purchase. In the context of illuminating Christmas trees, any regular Christmas tree, be it an artificial plastic one or a real pine tree, can be decorated with blinking, flashing ornaments.
Usually in decorating Christmas trees with fiber optics, the fiber optic system itself is built from the base of the Christmas tree to along its branches. If you were to illuminate a Christmas tree by the use of fiber optics, you would have to buy another tree. Another advantage of the traditional Christmas light is that you can put them along the border of the fence, by the roof of your house, or along around the edges of your windows. They’re very flexible and you can put them anywhere.
However, traditional incandescent Christmas lights gravely lose to fiber optic technology. Why? It’s because of a few reasons that are essence. Let’s look at this in the context of lighting a Christmas tree. Incandescent lights are not very efficient. Fiber optics are more efficient since it only needs one light source, and the fiber distributes the light to different points, unlike the traditional ones where each point that light emanates from is a separate light source.
Fiber optics can display different colors even though it’s just from one set. Traditional Christmas lights may vary in color, but the color of the set that you got is like that forever. The best it can do in variation is by how it changes the pattern of its blinking. How boring!
Most importantly, Christmas lights heat up. Fast. They’re the most common cause of fires in households. On the other hand, fiber optics don’t heat up at all. You can touch the glowing ends and you can still keep your fingertips unburnt. Ever had an experience of being burnt by an incandescent light bulb from a Christmas light that’s as hot as an iron? Yeah. You know what I’m talking about.
Also, Christmas lights lit up through fiber optics don’t have to be turned off during the night. It saves so much energy and it so not prone to heating up, that you can keep the happiness lit up all throughout the night. Unlike Christmas trees lit by traditional Christmas lights, you’d have to unplug the lights throughout the time you sleep for safety and economical reasons.
Meiji Electric offers a choice of Fiber Optic Christmas Trees. You may deem it unnecessary to buy another Christmas tree, but this is an investment. Imagine the slash it will give your electric bill. Imagine the colors it can showcase off. Imagine the safety that you can have.
Here at Meiji Electric, your consumer delight is our prime priority. And it would be a shame to see your bearing with something that can be improved. So why don’t you give up using unsafe, low-tech incandescent Christmas lights and switch to Meiji Fiber Optics?
Usually as our culture promotes to have each of us set-up a Christmas tree in our homes and have it colorfully decorated, whether it be ornaments, garlands and the usual Christmas lights.
This article is here to inform you why you should buy for yourself a Fiber Optic Christmas tree versus the conventional one.
Fiber Optic VS Conventional
As you can see, fiber optic trees are composed of long, thin strands of pure glass that are arranged in bundles that can transmit light over a long distance. In each strand of fiber optic has 3 parts: a thin glass center where light travels, a material that reflects the light and a coating that protects the fiber. In its base is a color wheel, which could give your tree a display of variety of colors more than what the colorful Christmas light can give you. You need not worry about having to buy a new set just because one bulb got busted because in Meij Fiber optic trees, you need only to replace a 10watts halogen bulb for the 2ft trees and 20 watts for 4ft and up!
Fiber optic trees do not heat up unlike the conventional ones. This type of tree ensures your home of safety especially from fires. As you enjoy an all day and night Christmas ambiance, you also don’t need to worry that your little ones want to play with the lights or hold it for long. Because it does not radiate heat, they can do so all day as much as they want to.
Fiber optic trees are inexpensive. In fact, it allows you to maximize the cost of the tree because it lasts really long. Personally our family has been using our Meiji Fiber Optic-Green for 6 years now and it still works like new and we have not bought Christmas lights ever since!
Aside from these, Meiji Fiber Optic trees are also easy to assemble and disassemble. You simply have to open up its leaves and you’re all set-up! Some models have built-in decors too such as star, candle stick or Christmas balls etc. This way, it is really cost efficient. Not only this, Fiber Optic trees are also energy efficient using 10 times less energy than that of an ordinary Christmas bulb.
Meiji Fiber Optic trees are available in 2ft, 4ft, 5ft, 6.5ft and 8ft. There are also a variety of designs to choose from namely, Acicular, Balls, Candle Stick, Shining Green, White and this year’s new release: Black! Check it out in SM Department Stores décor section, Ace Hardware, Ace Express and National bookstores.
Treat yourself a Fiber Optic Christmas tree this year and have a Merry Meiji Christmas!
